The Perfect Girl’s Day Out in BANDERA Texas!

My hair stylist Alex who currently owns a salon in San Antonio just opened his second location right in the heart of downtown Bandera called “Recherche” which is french for rare, exotic, out of the ordinary. Origin-French- literally ‘carefully sought out’. His first location called “The Establishment’ I would say has a more industrial feel and the new location has a more classic feel to it!

He picked the perfect spot to have a second salon at! There is so much to do in Bandera! While getting your hair done by him you can easily make a full day of it!

The cute little town of Bandera Texas known as the Cowboy capital became the “staging area for the last great cattle drives of the late 1800’s.”

’”The cypress trees that outline the course of the Medina River brought the first permanent settlers to Bandera. A mill that sawed cypress shingles was established here in 1853. In 1855 sixteen Polish families immigrated to Bandera to work at the mill. The Polish heritage is evident in much of the town’s architecture. A fine example is the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, second oldest Polish Catholic Church in the U.S”. -www.banderacowboycapital.com

It has now become a big tourist attraction but has not lost it’s home town feel! You can find lodging, horse back riding, shopping, hunting, museums, ranch tours, wineries & craft beer, nature sites, nightlife, eateries and events that take place monthly.

It makes for the ultimate girls day out and is one stop shop! My friend Precious and I recently visited Alex’s new salon since it was time for me to get my hair done. Prior to my appointment we stopped at The Cracked mug to grab some coffee! (Owner: Robin Wood) They have two locations. One in Helotes and now in Bandera! Its the cutest little coffee shop and the coffee and customer service was awesome!

After coffee we headed to the salon! we absolutely loved the vibe right when you walk in! He’s still in the beginning stages of bringing everything together but is still taking appointments! He truly brought the country feel of the building to life by bringing some of the city life in and adding a classical touch to it! I can’t wait to see it when it’s officially completed!!
